Character Notes
I. Not a lot of concrete information is available about her origin. She was found in a small village in South America all by herself as an infant. There was no one around but her. There were no traces of anyone living or dying for miles around. This phenomenon goes unexplained so far. The name "Laila" is given to her by her caretakers. Her birth name is obviously not known.
II. She's raised in the care of military personnel due to her extremely early development. Unlike most post-humans, she's able to use her special skill set as just a child. She used her abilities to escape those confines. She didn't necessarily disagree with her circumstances, but the other kids in similar situations talked her into it. She goes along with their plan of escape to make them happy. At the time of her escape, she's only about seven years old.
III. Instead of pursuing her, she's allowed to run free most of her young life. However, the soldier that rescued her as an infant keeps a close eye on her. She's aware of his presence most of the time and develops a friendly report with him. She would eventually return to the military willingly in pursuit of the strength she admired in him..
IV. Her aura is so intense, those around her can literally feel her walk into a room. In one dream sequence, she walks through a lobby while the other soldiers are eating and slacking off. As soon as she opens the door and steps in, everyone in the room freezes. No one even dares to breathe until she exits the room on the other side. It's a testament to how far beyond most others she is in terms of abilities.
V. No one really knows just how much she's capable of. She can freely walk on walls and ceilings. She hovers. Her body is a bit frail, but her strength is that of a superhuman. Not only that, but her speed is well above what a normal human's body is capable of (she's able to flash step at will), and she's got the moves of the moves refined gymnist. As a child, she uses this power to move herself and the other escapees from rooftop to rooftop during their escape through city streets. Is it a form of telekinesis? Can she manipulate gravity? Nothing about who she is and what she's capable of is for certain.
VI. She carries what can only be described as a plasma cannon from time to time. She uses her own life force to fire it. She fires it pretty casually in the rare occasions that she actually uses it. The only effect it seems to have is exhausting her rapidly. She usually has to take a nap after a few rounds. One of her quirks that scares those around her is her tendency to prop it on the floor and fall asleep on it... with her head leaning on the barrel.
VII. She quickly rose to fame in the military. Though all her peers feared her, the higher ups admired her strength and her willingness to do whatever was asked of her without question. In the first sequence that she appears in with Jalen (and he's not dead), he's attending a ceremony in which she's receiving an honor. He's seen for a brief moment sitting in the audience.
VIII. She's initially a very timid character who never speaks. She's very shy and not confrontational, even in the face of death. Eventually, these traits are completely changed. She becomes an emotionless slayer that's feared by her enemies and even moreso by her own fellow soldiers in arms. Her heart softens a bit from forming a friendship with Jalen. At the same time, while serving as her right hand man, he matures a lot and becomes more serious about his duties.
X. She bears a striking resemblance to Michelle Rodriguez. That's strange considering I had no idea who she was when I started having these dreams. She's also the main character. Most the dreams are seen through her eyes.
